 Today Budoni is an important tourist resort, with beautiful beaches from the shallow water and white sand and also for the close and equipped port of Ottiolu that puts up about 500 boats with all the comforts and the necessary services. Budoni is about 35 km far from Olbia, in the eastern coast of Sardinia. In ancient times it was inhabited since the Nuragic Age and the Roman domination. During the Barbaric invasions the area was abandoned and it flourished in the Middle Age, thanks to the fertility of its land as an important agricultural centre.

The surroundings are rich of remains such as nuraghi and "domus de janas". It is important to mention the nuraghe of "Conca 'e Bentu". Few km far, southward, is the village of Posada, ancient Medieval centre, where is the beautiful "Castello della Fava". The beach of Budoni is a long littoral surrounded by a shadowy pinewood, a perfect place for long walks. In the surroundings is the beach of Ottiolu, southward, La Caletta and Su Triarzu.
Events
The 15th August is the festival "Sardegna a confronto", with a parade of traditional costumes from all Sardinia. The 7th July is the cycling competition "Coppa di Budoni". The most important festivities are the 16th and 17th January, in San Giovanni Battista's honour. In the neighbourhood of Budoni in the inside part are many characteristic and small hamlets: Brunella where the 4th August is the Festival of the myrtle, San Gavino who is celebrated in the homonymous hamlet the 27th-28th of August and at last the 1st June the festivity of Suor Maria Gabriella in Brunella.
