 History In 238 it was under the Roman domination, seat of the local government and ômunicipiumö. Its decline occurred around the 456 for the pirates and vandals incursions. In a stele found in Nora is mentioned for the first time the name of Sardinia. Inside the village we suggest to visit the beautiful Villa Santa Maria built in 1838.
Excursions
Nora: Phoenician, Punic centre and then Roman. Of the Punic period are wide neighbourhoods, temples, houses, and a sacrifice area, the Sanctuary of the Divinity salubri; of the Roman period other neighbourhoods, temples, three thermal spa, the theatre, the amphitheatre and some houses. The Roman theatre has tiles walls, the cavea with 10 stairs, and the outside hemicycle with a beautiful decorative frame. Along a route of mosaic pavements, furnaces and mortars we arrive to the central thermal with dressing room, frigidarium, tepidaria, calidarium, all with beautiful mosaic pavements and two pwristyle adorned by mosaic pavements. On the top of the promontory is the Sanctuary of Esculapio on more levels, of the II century B.C. Here is also the Tower of the Costellazzo of the XVI century. Toward Cagliari can be visited Villa dÆOrri, ancient residence of the Savoia.
Beaches: along the state road 125 is the long beach of Santa Margherita di Pula, with a beautiful pinewood. Inside the sandy shore are the beaches: Stella Marina, Cistos, La Pineta, Cala Verde, Perla Marina, Riva dei Pini and Forte Village. Eastward near the ruins is the beach of Nora.
Events
From the 3rd to the 5th May: Festival of S.Efisio, with procession from Cagliari to Pula, with the traditional costumes. The 24th June: S.Giovanni Batista.
The 15th August: the celebration of the Assunta.
